  The best I could tell, generally speaking, you're supposed to visit the places in a specific order, and you get hints from the people at each place as to where to go next. I made the mistake of shooting one of the people and couldn't get anywhere. But I think I'm still missing some major idea as to what to accomplish.

    You have to figure out which person has the egg and shoot him. Each character has something to say about everyone else and all the items. It's when there's a conflict of ideas that someone has the egg.
